A father-daughter business built on the Golden Rule
Started by my dad as Golden Rule Painting. Rebranded by me into Golden Rule Handyman. Still locally owned, still family-run, still showing up the way you’d want a tradesperson to show up.
From paint brushes to a full toolbox
My dad, Steven Wease, ran Golden Rule Painting in the Springfield area for 20 years. Painting was his trade โ and “the Golden Rule” was how he ran the business. Show up when you say you will. Charge a fair price. Do the work right. Treat people the way you’d want to be treated.
When Dad retired, he handed the business to me. I knew two things right away: the brand had to stay (it meant something to people in this town), and the scope had to grow. Our customers didn’t just need painting โ they needed someone to hang their TVs, fix their leaky faucets, patch their drywall, and swap their light fixtures. So we kept painting, added everything else, and rebranded as Golden Rule Handyman.
Same Golden Rule. Bigger toolbox.

Sarah’s dad ran Golden Rule Painting in Springfield for 20 years. He built the brand and the reputation that the business runs on today.
Now retired โ but the Golden Rule he built the business on has not changed one bit.
Sarah Hughton
Took the reins from her dad and rebranded Golden Rule Painting into Golden Rule Handyman โ expanding scope from painting alone to drywall, plumbing, fixtures, doors, and everything else our customers need fixed.
Also owns Golden Rule Cleaning + More, and coaches other home-service entrepreneurs through her brand Mop to Mogul.

Jason runs payroll and accounts receivable. If your crew got paid on time and your invoice arrived without a hiccup, that was Jason โ keeping the financial side running so everyone else can focus on the work.
Megan Whitlow
Megan is the voice you’ll most likely hear when you call. She schedules jobs, takes care of customer requests, and runs the office day-to-day so the techs can focus on the work.
